Dear child,
You are young
And you think that you are helpless,
So I am here to clear up a few things for you;
First of all,
You are the help you need.
Do not expect the world to pity you.
It will not. And when it does, it will not be for your benefit. So child, learn early on to fight your own battles. Learn never to place exceedingly high expectations in anyone but yourself. This way, you will have less disappointment and less hate.
Secondly;
Love.
Let’s discuss love.
A time is coming when all your friends will be in relationships. Except you.
Love will surround you.
But love won’t seem made for you.
No winks will be thrown your way.
No flowers will be left on top of your bed.
No sweet notes in your desk at school.
At that time,
With no one winking,
Or staring at you reverently.
No flowers, not even sweet notes.
Younger self,
When that time comes,
Remember that you are beautiful.
It will happen, I swear it will.
Love, just like every other thing in this world, will have its ups and downs.
When you most feel ready to commit your heart to someone,
They will call it off.
You will cry,
and tell others about your misfortune.
You will promise never to give love another try, because you never want to feel such pain again.
But I know you will try again, and again, and again, and again…
Because you are strong and you will grow by each trial….
Never put limits on love
Give yourself enough chances at love,
It’s worth it.
Now the third thing;
Life is full of troubles and avoidable betrayals,
So appreciate those that are real to you
Not those that appear to be nice.
And then do the same for others
Be real. Be unapologetically real.
And one day,
You will find love.
The older you,
Lynette
“To those who have given up on love, I say, trust life a little bit. “
This is one of my favs!!!
When I read this,
“Love will surround you. But love won’t seem made for you.”
It spoke to me. I believe that almost all of us, at some point in our lives, thought the very same thing. Love can seem hard and elusive and difficult. But believe it or not, it’s not loving that hurts. It’s not loving that’s causing us to feel pain and heartbreak, but rather our attachment to how things should or shouldn’t be. It’s the ideas we have in our head about what love should be like and about how relationships should manifest. If you were hurt and injured emotionally because of a relationship you have been in, know that love had nothing to do with it. And know that it’s not loving that you should give up on but rather your attachment and the many toxic and distorted ideas you have about love. As Maya Angelou said, “Have enough courage to trust love one more time. And one more time always.”
Hang onto hope
Naks.
