Sandra Nakalanda (Naks)
My name is Nakalanda Sandra Diana from Uganda.
I am a writer, mental health advocate, and educational policy enthusiast. I am also the founder and creator of the Conversations 256.
At the start of 2017, I found myself staring down the darkest hole in my life and desperately trying to hang onto a life I didn’t recognize any more. Tired of existing within the walls I’d built around myself, I took baby steps and decided to break them down, piece by small piece. I started a small blog called the Conversations 256 to lead the conversation on mental health. Two years later, that small blog is now an award-nominated, online creative wellness destination.
I am now a First Generation Graduate, breaking down stigmas associated with opening up about sensitive topics, pushing people to find inner courage to share their life’s greatest lessons through stories and letters and encouraging others to hang onto hope.
Over the past two years, the conversations 256 has evolved from small mental health blog to an educational platform read by over 5000 Ugandans every month.
It's been called, "The Silent Movement of Courage"
THE C256 is a digital educational platform with a global audience across five continents and read in countries such as Uganda, USA, UK, Australia, Kenya, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland and 79 others.
Over the past 3 years, THE C256 has encouraged diverse storytelling and fearless conversations, delivering new perspectives to its audience and driving individual growth for its community while sparking interest in conversations that matter most.
We have a podcast-THE CONVERSATIONS 256 PODCAST, that is leading conversation on topics that are usually considered taboo or too difficult. We host leaders, innovators and creators and founders; diving deep into their work, their processes and failures, life lessons and unique insights.
Not only that, but we care about the community and about giving back and we do so through CAUSES WE SUPPORT_ an initiative focused on supporting community selected initiatives and causes that we can back and support through community led fundraising and individual generosity from our readers.
