Dear Self…Love That Old Man!

Dear younger me,

(Not the eight year old because you won’t be able to read this.)

I realize now that we could have been half way to the moon by now had you been more serious with life then!

So to the fourteen year old who’s closer to becoming a man; here’s a little advice to save you from the regrets of missed opportunities, blown chances, moments not lived, and painful memories.

So where to start?

The lessons learned through blood and fire or the ones whispered in my dreams?

Let me start with the most important one.

Love that old man who’s given everything for your sake. Don’t be ashamed to introduce him as your grandpa to your peers. Quit saying that someday you’ll take him to the city and just do it. Don’t take his living for granted because you’ll regret having not done enough to show your love for him.

Secondly I need to you to make more genuine friends, it gets lonely up here.

Dear Self…You Will Find Home.

Lastly I need you to know that you’ll never be in control of this road of life.

It’s a bitter truth (like all truths) the consolation is that you get to control the pace and choose how you walk. Yes life is a journey but not a race, so move at your own pace.

I’d like to thank you for having found the love for reading.

Above all thank you for having given Jesus a chance to change your life.
