To Our Moms(…a collection of short stories…)

“..I have so many dreams of my own, and I remember things from my childhood, from when I was a girl and a young woman, and I haven’t forgotten a thing. So why did we think of Mom as a mom from the very beginning? She didn’t have the opportunity to pursue her dreams, and all by herself, faced everything the era dealt her, poverty and sadness, and she couldn’t do anything about her very bad lot in life other than suffer through it and get beyond it and live her life to the very best of her ability, giving
her body and her heart to it completely. Why did I never give a thought to Mom’s dreams?”

Mother’s Day just passed! This collection of stories from our community to their Mothers is how we celebrated Mother’s Day last year at the C256. But this collection was such a force! I felt it needed to be shared again this year!!! This post is from last year. Enjoy 🙂

See, I have been raised by three incredible women.

I would not be the person I am today without these three strong women in my life. Today I celebrate them.

As always I wanted to celebrate with you too.

So I reached out to my audience and asked our wonderful community here to share stories about their moms; what they admire most about her, the important lessons they have learnt from her, the funny moments they’ll carry always. I gathered all the stories and made a small collection of Mother’s Day stories from our readers. They share their poignant tales of the bond between mother and child. The emails and text messages that rolled in tell stories of mothers who gave tremendously of themselves for their children. I hope you enjoy it.

I like to imagine sometimes, that she is watching. I give everything I have to whatever I set my mind to just in case she is watching; such that she looks down upon me and…smiles.

After my mother died, I was lucky enough to be granted another…
